Come enjoy the cold mountain weather with your students at TVR this winter! Our winter retreats run from the end of December through the month of February. Whether you would like to ski, snow tube, or enjoy our on-site activities, we would love to facilitate a retreat for your group!
The goal of winter retreats at TVR is for our staff to handle as many of the details of the retreat as possible so that you are free to minister to your kids. The way we make this happen is by providing all elements of the retreat at TVR – programming, teaching, worship leading, activities, etc. In addition, should you choose optional off-campus activities such as skiing or tubing, we’ll organize those details for you as well! Our staff will also accompany you to the slopes to facilitate the trip and provide dinner there as well.
As mentioned, there are three different options available for your group’s retreat: skiing, tubing, or staying on-site to enjoy camp activities Saturday afternoon. Please don't hesitate to reach out to our office with any questions and check out the following links for more information:

Retreat Logistics:
Retreat Cost: The base price for a retreat at TVR is $60/person/night. This cost includes all lodging, food, programming, teaching, worship, on-site activities, etc. Optional off-site activities (skiing & tubing) and purchases made in the snack shack or coffeeshop will be an additional cost. Please note that we do offer a pro-rate for groups arriving after 10pm the first night.
Arrival/Departure Times: Your group is welcome to arrive any time after 3pm the first day of your retreat. If your group needs to arrive later in the evening, you will just jump in with whatever activity/session is happening at that time. On the final day of your retreat, your group is welcome to depart any time before 1pm. Whether you decide to head out after breakfast or stay for session and an optional early lunch, we are happy to create a schedule that best suits your group’s needs.
Retreat Lodging: You are welcome to view pictures of retreat accommodations on our website (tvr.org). Housing assignments will be finalized the week prior to your retreat once we have received final numbers from each group and have taken all special requests into considerations (physical limitations, etc). Please let us know if your church has any requirements regarding housing (ex. leaders staying separate from students, at least two leaders per room, etc).
Booking: Once you have determined which weekend works best for your group, you will receive a group reservation contract. Reservations are made in a five-person range (ex. 10-15 students/chaperones). The minimum number on your contract (ex. 10) represents the number of students/chaperones you will be financially responsible for bringing. The maximum number (ex. 15) represents the number of spaces we are holding for your group. Final numbers will be requested the week prior to your retreat, and you will be financially responsible for your final number (within your five-person range).
2025 Tubing Update: Please note that the following update only pertains to groups who desire to offer both skiing and tubing to their group during their retreat. If your group is only tubing, TVR will continue to handle all reservations with the resort (Jonas Ridge). All reservations made for tubing specifically at Beech Mountain will now be made directly by the youth leader. Unfortunately, the group sales department is no longer able to obtain tickets for groups. Prior to purchasing tickets online, please talk with the TVR staff to determine what time slot would be best for your retreat schedule.
